Yesterday, a good friend of mine lost one of his best friends to a car accident. When I went to text him, I realized that I had no fucking clue as to how to approach him and convey my sympathies for his loss. When I tell people that my parents are dead, they inevitably say "sorry," and truth be told, I'm so fucking sick of hearing it. "Sorry" doesn't do shit and it's just a word to fill the silent void that's left when you hear that someone has lost a loved one. And even though I hate hearing that word myself, the first thing I thought of to say to my friend was that same word. There really are no words to comfort the person or to show how you are saddened by their pain. Death just sucks.
